FAITH & THE COWBOY CULTURE

tim_edited_edited.jpg

My name is Pastor, Tim Collier and cowboy ministry is the path I am on. I live just outside of Cullman, Alabama, where paved roads wind past long grasses in bloom, cattle the colors of the earth, deep green carpets of wooded hills, and the Cowboy Church of Lonesome, where I am the Associate Pastor.

My journey was reborn by God's hand when I was in a rough spot in life in 2009. I met an old cowboy named Rodney to purchase a blue heeler pup and instantly became dear old friends. He ministered to me and shared Jesus with me.

Rodney invited me and my wife Tammy to a Wild Horse ministry one day where an Idaho cowboy named Aaron shares the gospel in a round pen with an untouched horse. The minute I saw that grey horse running around Aaron, panting, sweating, and frightened. I knew God was showing me myself right then and there through that horse.

I was lost, I was scared, I was confused and, it was then in that moment I realized I needed Jesus. It was on that day, in the back of those pens, I gave my life to Christ, made him my Lord and Savior, and never looked back.

I thank God for that blue heeler pup named Woody, for my good friend Rodney and that grey horse. But what I am most thankful for is Jesus Christ.

There were so many cowboys that I traded horses with or roped with that I knew needed that same Jesus who changed my life. Todd Mitchell, who is over The American Fellowship of Cowboy Churches (AFCC), contacted me and said God had laid a cowboy church where I live and that God had laid me on his heart to pastor it.

I was so thankful for His obedience that we started the Lonesome Dove Cowboy Church (LDCC) in June of 2011. Today we continue to reach the western culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I am beyond blessed for My wife of thirty-one years, Tammy, our two daughters, Skyler and Savannah, and two Grandkids, Emmi and Cohen. And our numerous church families.
